PANASONIC VIERA Explained
This TH-50PZ700 Flat Panel TV is part of the new Panasonic Viera range, but what exactly is Viera?
As the worlds largest and leading manufacturer in plasma technology, Panasonic demonstrates its commitment to excellence with the launch of new VIERA series, incorporating HD , Panasonic's revolutionary V-Real technology and highly convenient, unique HDAVI control and VIERA Link.
High-Performance, Environment-Friendly Panel
Panasonic has totally revamped all major components. The phosphors and other panel materials have been upgraded; the ribs and electrodes have been redesigned with new shapes; and the type of gas has been improved. The result is a clear, crisp picture that provides easy, comfortable viewing even in a bright living room. Panasonic is also committed preserving the environment.
1080p Digital Processing Chip-Set
This chip-set processes the full-HD video signal in its original condition, without down-conversion.
The full-HD video signal allows the reproduction of highly expressive images with exceptional detail and full 1920 x 1080 resolution. Used in VIERA, this high-performance chip-set processes the HD signal without altering its natural specifications.
1080p Digital Re-Mastering Processor
Up-converting various video signals into signals with higher image quality 1080p Digital Re-Mastering Processor.
This processor up-converts a variety of video signals, such as those from analog broadcasts and DVD movies, to provide a level of image quality that approaches full-HD. The resulting images have sharper details and more life-like realism.
Real Gamma Control
A total of 3,072 equivalent steps of gradation for finely nuanced images
Maximum 16-bit video processing makes it possible to reproduce full-time, full-pixel images with 3,072 equivalent steps of gradation. The picture noise and black blocking that occur with insufficient gradation is suppressed even in scenes with intricate detail, fine textures and subtle expressions. Even the most detailed parts of an image are rendered with beautiful smoothness.
Real Black Creation
Max. 10,000:1 contrast provides crisp images with superb depth
Two original Panasonic technologies, the Real Black Drive System and New Deep Black Filter, help achieve exceptionally deep, rich blacks and max. 10,000:1 contrast in dark image areas.
Real Black Drive System:
This system suppresses unwanted graying by reducing the electrical pre-discharge level to about 10% the level of conventional plasma TVs.
Contrast Management System
VIERA achieves superior expressive detail by applying optimal processing to each scene individually
Original Panasonic technology optimizes the contrast by matching it to the images in each scene. Instead of losing gradation by making part of the image too bright or too dark, this new technology applies just the right amount of contrast correction for each part of the scene. The result brings natural beauty to all parts of the scene.
Sub-Pixel Controller
VIERA delivers smooth diagonal lines and sharp, crisp images in scenes with fine detail
The Sub-Pixel Controller eliminates jagged or blurred diagonal lines and produces smoother edges. Unlike conventional systems in which the three RGB colors are processed together, this advanced system processes each color separately for crisper, more natural-looking images.
Motion Pattern Noise Reduction
Even scenes with lots of motion are clear and have excellent tonal expression
The Motion Pattern Noise Reduction circuit detects motion patterns that tend to generate noise, and makes adjustments to maximize image quality. It helps produce clean, sharp images with outstanding gradation, even in scenes with considerable motion. The result is a noticeable improvement in moving picture quality.
SOUND
Advanced Smart Sound Speaker System - Narrow-aperture, Ultra-Slim Speakers distribute sound over a wide listening area
The new VIERA sound system has been totally revamped to provide superior bass performance and deliver clear, natural sounds. The Advanced Ultra-Slim Speaker Unit improves reproduction in the low- to medium-frequency range and provides stable sound imaging. The woofers use an original, enhanced passive radiator system to produce a tight, rich, robust bass.
Long Service Life - 60,000 Hours.
Panasonic VIERA boasts a long service life of approximately 60,000 hours*.
By making the panel glass thinner, we were able to increase the light transmission to create a brighter picture with less power. We're also proud to have achieved a VIERA lifetime of about 60,000 hours.
* The time until panel brightness is reduced to half its initial level. However, this time varies depending on the content of the images displayed and the usage environment. (The service life given above is intended as a guideline when displaying standard moving images.)
Double HDMI Terminals
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is paving the way to a more advanced and connected AV world.
HDMI is a standard developed for use in connecting different types of digital video and audio components. Equipment with HDMI terminals can be connected to each other with a single cable, letting you enjoy superior digital picture and sound quality without a lot of cables cluttering the area. Equipped with two of these next-generation terminals, VIERA is ready to be part of an expanding home AV system. (Depending on the cable used, HDAVI Control function may not be possible. Panasonic HDMI cables are highly recommended.)
